The Back Room

Welcome to The Back Room! Step in, read, write and link with other sites that focus on the Bush Administration, their lies and our demand for the truth. The Back Room was created over many dinners, glasses of wine and "pints" of frustration over where our country is headed. We need more voices, your voices,to help us uncover and reclaim our democracy.

Democratic "Terrorists"

Bush wanted to spread democracy in the Middle East but he didn't count on Hamas winning.

O.K., Bushy Boy, since you can't invade every Muslim country (I know you want to but the troops are tired, the money is gone and your polls numbers are ugly), you might want to try diplomacy. Look it up in the dictionary...

Russert Growls At Frist

Check out this morning's "Meet The Press" transcripts. Tim went after Bill Frist and didn't take any @#$% from the republican Senate Majority leader . Frist is still defending the President's decision to illegally wiretap Americans:

Why We Fight

A new film by Eugene Jarecki is hitting theaters. "Why We Fight" is an look at military history in America. It takes its name from a series of films made by Frank Capra for the United States military during World War II.

In a New York Times review, MANOHLA DARGIS writes, "Calvin Coolidge famously said that the chief business of the American people is business; 80 years later, Mr. Jarecki forcefully, if not with wholesale persuasiveness, argues that our business is specifically war".

Sick Dick

Cheney checked into the hospital for shortness of breath today.

Pumped full of meds and his shell of a heart hooked up to a pacemaker, doctor's don't see any long term effects from this lastest scare.

The dark lord and the evil inside him lurk on...

More on Cheney's health:

Cheney has a long history of health problems and suffered his first heart attack in 1978 when he was 37. Ten years later, after his third heart attack, he had quadruple bypass surgery to clear clogged arteries.

Cheney, who has not suffered a heart attack since he became vice president in 2001, began a daily exercise program in 2000 and started eating healthier.

He quit smoking in 1978 and takes medication to lower his cholesterol... (Fox News)

Alito Hearings Begin

Samuel Alito sits today, before members of the Senate and listens to their statements on his appointment to the Supreme Court. He is on very shaky ground with democrats because of his views on Roe vs. Wade and other personal rights issues. His opinion in 1985 was that he disagreed that women have a constitutional right to an abortion. What are his views now?

His decisions seem ultra-conservative and I hope democrats and responsible republicans dig deep and finds answers to the questions that Alito will most likely try to avoid.
