The Back Room

Welcome to The Back Room! Step in, read, write and link with other sites that focus on the Bush Administration, their lies and our demand for the truth. The Back Room was created over many dinners, glasses of wine and "pints" of frustration over where our country is headed. We need more voices, your voices,to help us uncover and reclaim our democracy.

Janesville Group Fights for Peace

Rock Valley Fellowship of Reconciliation lined Milton Ave. in Janesville, WI today, holding up anti-war/anti-Bush signs and waving at honking supporters driving by. Charee and I joined the small but dedicated group for a little "morning after St. Pat's" activism.

"Fight the Power"!

Hi Anna and Charee,

Thanks for posting the pix of the Janesville peace demo! One small addition: the event was actually organized by Rock Valley Fellowship of Reconciliation, another Southern Wisconsin peace group. I'm in both groups, which often get mixed up.

We in Rock County Citizens for Peace helped publicize the event in our newsletter, and people from both groups were well represented.

Coming up in Janesville are several other items of interest. Every Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 4:30 the Rock Valley Fellowship of Reconciliation holds a vigil which is held outside Rep. Paul Ryan's office at 20 S. Main Street downtown. We get together for coffee afterward to talk about future activities.

Rock County Citizens for Peace will feature speaker Adam Schesch from Madison on Sunday, March 26, at 3 p.m. at the Janesville YWCA, 1735 S. Washington. Adam will be addressing the topic: "Iraq -- The Case for Immediate Withdrawal."

On Thursday, April 20, Alfred McCoy, UW-Madison history professor and author of "A Question of Torture," will be discussing that book at UW Rock County. Contact me -- John Graf -- at jgraf@jvlnet.com for the room number (we're still finalizing that).

I guess that's all for now, but thanks again for joining our gathering and we look forward to seeing you again.
